CONSCIOUS SEDATION

Conscious sedation, performed by an expert anesthesiologist, provides the necessary setting for the patient to have maximum comfort while the dentist’s work achieves maximum agility and efficiency. It is a combination of a drug that helps to relax (a sedative) and another that is responsible for blocking pain (an anesthetic) during a dental procedure. Although the patient remains awake during the visit, he loses the sensitivity of the area that is intended to be manipulated, a fact that provides a calmer and more relaxed consultation environment, both for the patient and for the professional.

With conscious sedation the patient is not put to sleep. It is true that the medicine can alter the perception of time, but at no time does the patient lose consciousness. This allows the patient to communicate with the dentist during the procedure.
